6 Steps for setting goals without getting overwhelmed!

I used to find during the process of setting goals overwhelming,  I would write down all my goals then just look at them on a piece of paper and think "OH NO" I'm never going to achieve all this.

I find setting too many goals without the right plan can often debilitate us or makes us QUIT long before we reach even one of these many goals. 

So I decided I would let you know a few tips, in fact 6 of them that I use and I believe if you implement then this will absolutely change these feelings for you

Why you need to take time to congratulate YOURSELF?

Being an entrepreneur is not easy and network marketing is no different...but it is worth the frustrations and overwhelm to reach your goals.

One of the best ways I have found is to congratulate yourself for all the little wins along the way.

Don't be afraid to give yourself a pat on the back and say well done, I am proud of where you have come and what you have achieved so far. Keep going & don't quit!

What To Do When Your Upline Doesn’t Want You to Use the Internet to Build

A very common question I get from people learning the cutting edge online recruiting methods inside my ‘Attraction Marketing Formula’ training, has to do with a concern over being scolded by an upline for “choosing a different path.”

For example, I was on a webinar a couple months ago and a woman asked how she should deal with her upline who is so entrenched in the old way of thinking, she was afraid he might be critical and/or disagree with choosing to prospect and recruit online.

In some cases, there are leaders who will monitor every move their reps make, watch their stats, review volume and call or email on a daily basis to see who you have prospected recently or showed the plan to.

Now I gotta say, I know ‘attraction marketing’ works and once new reps and customers start rolling in for you, your upline will have questions and most likely, be negative about building the business differently than how they did it back in the ’80s or ’90s or even early 2000’s.

And this is a position I empathize with, because my upline once told me, after having built a small team offline, that I risked losing my business by using online methods which were “unproven”…

This issue pretty much comes down to this…


Everyone wants to know what the “best way” to build their business is.  It’s human nature to move towards methods that are most efficient and bring the fastest and highest results for the least amount of work and most distributors are on a constant search to find ‘magic system’.


Now as much as we’d like to definitely say that “attraction marketing is the best way in the world to build a network marketing business,” I can’t. (No, really I mean it!. I can’t.

Because we wouldn’t even be considering the most important component of anyone’s success – YOU!

We all have different strengths, weaknesses and abilities. And all this factors into what will work best for us as individuals.

If your upline built his business a while ago and has had success using old school cold market recruiting methods, (like cold calling or cold prospecting), then as far as they are concerned, those methods are what work the best.

Throughout their networking career, these are the methods they feel most comfortable using, most likely, to great effect because they’ve spent years mastering that skill set.

Now if you just started your network marketing business today in 2015, you’re going to need to figure out which methods work best for YOU.

If prospecting friends and family, holding home meetings, going to hotel meetings or prospecting strangers aint’ your thing, that’s totally cool!

They don’t appeal to me either, but it doesn’t mean that my way works better than someone else’s.

When it comes to being confronted by your spline or upsetting people in your company, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Let them know that you prefer to approach your business using strategies more in line with your interests and strengths.

If they got an issue with it, it’s THEIR problem and if that’s the case, you may want to consider joining an organization that uses and supports the methods you wish to pursue.

(After all, this is a business so make ‘business decisions’ and don’t stay with an unsupportive upline because you have some cultish separation anxiety issue…. but anyway, that’s fodder for another post lol)

I’ve been in this industry for almost 10 years and I’ve tried to build this business in many different ways… home/hotel meetings, cold market prospecting, prospecting my bartender, calling up friends & family, mass emails, craigslist ads, etc.

Now, I’m a very logic oriented person, which means I constantly analyze what was really going on as I tried different methods and learned a ton from everything I tried, even when things didn’t work out.

After a few months of being in this industry, I pretty much made up my mind that I wanted to build a business in a way that reflected the age we were living in.

I also had gone to MIT and became an engineer.  It made absolutely no sense for me to be operating like a door to door salesman, given my generation and background. I needed to take advantage of my strengths and use technology as a major leverage point in my business.

But the cool thing is that I didn’t even invent ‘attraction marketing’. I learned these skills from a high school drop out and a former crack addict… seriously!

I was like, “If they could do it, I could do it!”

What my mentors showed me was a way of building that actually turned my networking business into a HOME business (i.e. build while at home) by using the power of the internet.

Some people in this industry attacked me for doing it a “different” way.

It didn’t matter to me. All that mattered is that…
a) I made money,
b) I was getting closer to quitting my job and
c) helping others do the same.

Here’s essentially what you need to make attraction marketing work, in the same way countless 6-figure and 7-figure earners have learned from us:

Step 1: Find the best target market

The best target market for me to go after, consists of people who have already said YES to a home business.

In fact, on a daily basis hundreds of networkers, affiliate marketers and internet marketers across the world voluntarily send me their contact information, showing interest in either my business, my mentorship or both.

This is possible because instead of pitching my opportunity to them, I focus my efforts on solving THEIR problems and addressing their needs.

Step 2: Demonstrate value

I never chase people or try to convince people to join my business. Instead, I attract by demonstrating value and leadership through effective marketing.

In fact, in the past 2 months alone, I’ve had over 250 people fill out a lengthy questionnaire, wanting to invest between $10,000 – $20,000 to receive my mentorship.  Crazy huh?

To my surprise, many of the folks I spoke to who filled out the application, didn’t really know me too well. They just knew they wanted what I had to offer and were just hoping I would accept them into my program.

The trick here is to position what you offer as valuable, in a way that no one else does.  And I can tell you for certain it’s a lot easier to ask for a $300 enrollment fee, than it is to ask for $10,000 – $20,000.

Step 3: Create websites & emails that sell for you

I will absolutely not sit on the phone all day, cold calling people and pitch them on my opportunity.  In fact, I have setup simple websites and automated email systems that actually do the selling for me.

The only way I’m going to get on the phone with someone who wants to buy something form me or join my business, is if they are sure they want to get started and maybe have a few clarifying questions.  Even then, I still insist on interviewing EVERYONE I would be personally be working with.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of crazies out there. lol. ;)

Step 4: Build “You, Inc.”

I don’t focus simply on just building a network marketing or direct sales opportunity, which may or may not be around in 5 years. My focus for the past 9 years has been on building my BRAND or YOU INC, which consist of a community, email list and reputation I can take with me wherever I go.


Fact of the matter, is that I’ve actually been in 4 different business opportunities, which have come and gone, yet my business income continued to grow at an average rate of 33% each and every year, regardless of what company I was with.

That is only possible because of the brand and reputation I cultivated over the past 9 years.  Your network marketing business is just the vehicle, but not your TRUE business.

My email list had become an online distribution channel, which brought stability and growth.  It would also allow me to build another business or opportunity with the click of a mouse, should something ever happen to my opportunity.

Step 5: People who say “no” are awesome!

One of the keys to bringing stability to my income was when I accepted the fact that 90% of the people you find anywhere will say “NO” to your products or opportunity.


I found a way to make these people customers in other ways, by providing solutions to their biggest problems and needs, which turned me into a bonafide 7-figure producer.

Trust me, it’s a ‘pop the champaign’ moment when your CPA tells you that you made $1.1 Million dollars in 1 year. Woot! Woot!

Step 6: Build an empire

Master networkers know that their goal is not to build just a downline or home business. It’s to build a business than can serve the needs of an entire industry.

When what you’ve created can influence the direction of an industry, not only can you build a downline, not only can you build a financial legacy… you can be a FORCE other leaders want to attach themselves to.

Now, I’m not saying that what I’ve just outlined is “THE BEST” way to build. All I can share with you is what it has done for me…

Not only did I quit my job…
Not only did a become a 6-figure earner in my company…
Not only did I grow a 7-figure income with 4 years…

I haven’t prospected a single stranger or shared my opportunity with a family member in the past 8 years.

By focusing on solving problems and adding value to an industry, I attract literally 300 – 500 networkers per day to my email list.

I generate between 10 – 50 customers per day…

And about 50-60 per month decide they want to become serious business builders with my help.

Now, I know people have different attitudes as far as personal development and mindset goes.

But my advice is pretty practical.

First, you must get comfortable with the unknown.

Basically, you need to be present and respect the journey.

Know that you’re not going to learn everything you need all at once, in one fell swoop.

When you go online, you’re learning a whole new skillset.

Almost a new profession.

Think of it…

When you learn a new profession, what do you usually do?

Well, you go to school for four years.

We’re not going to have you do that, and it probably shouldn’t take four years, anyway.

However, if there was a school of building a businesses online, it probably would take a few months to get through all the coursework, so be prepared for a learning curve.

Don’t try to learn everything at once.

Just focus on what’s in front of you.

Master that, implement it, and then move on.

You have to get comfortable with not knowing what’s ahead.

There’s always going to be a new technology that you don’t know about, and new skills that you have to acquire.

Keep that in mind and expect the unknown.

But the other issue is a biggie and comes up often:

It’s the ability to overcome adversity and not give up.

By going online…

Do certain parts of building your business become a easier?


That’s the purpose of going online—to create more efficiency, so you’re not doing things that either waste time, or you simply don’t like doing.

  • So no more driving around town to get from point A to point B.
  • No more meeting people one-on-one.
  • Or following up over and over after they’ve seen “the plan.”

However, you are still going to face adversity.

You’re still going to hit roadblocks and get stuck.

If you’re somebody that easily gives up when you encounter those types of things, then don’t even try.

You have to respect the new skills you’re learning

And be willing to face the tough times.

Respect means when you actually get stuck, you don’t easily give up.

You push through and become resourceful.

An important part of the equation is knowing where to go to find answers, or knowing who to ask to find answers (more on this later).

This is vital to your success.

The last thing is…

You’ve got to overcome peer-pressure

There are people that are not going to approve of you doing something that’s different from what they recommend within the company.

This includes your upline and crossline, which I’ve discussed before:

Maybe someone in your downline doesn’t want you to do this.

That’s normal.

It’s normal for people who have not built their business this way to have a negative attitude.

Human beings fear of the unknown, which is why the first thing I told you was: master the unknown.

It’s natural for people to fear what they don’t know

Not only is it natural to fear the unknown, it’s natural to attack it too.

Know that your upline—even if they have a massive downline—if they haven’t built a business online, then they’re talking about something they don’t truly understand.

Building a business online is completely different than building it offline.

It requires different methods and an entirely different skill set.

Building offline is something you can admire and appreciate—and I certainly do—and respect anyone that’s done it.

But if a leader hasn’t done anything online, and they’re talking ‘smack’ about it, then they have no credibility in my book.

Respect them, but don’t give in to their doubt and fear.

But in today’s day and age, more and more leaders in the network marketing space are starting to accept that you can actually build on social media and using Internet marketing, and the proof is in the pudding.

You see people everywhere who are successfully building online.

The proof is all around you.

You don’t need the approval of anyone else

Move forward no matter what others say to you.

You only need to know where to take them, and how to process them.

You can start implementing social media recruiting strategies today.

In fact, this strategy is basically equitable to what you’d do offline, except you’re transposing the process online.

The challenge with social media is you’re always busy…

  • You’re always posting.
  • You’re always engaging.
  • You’re always interacting with people.

It produces results quickly (and it can produce massive results), and you can duplicate it quickly, but it’s time intensive.

Most of the time…

People will move beyond simple social media recruiting stuff, because they want to create more leverage in their business and to free up more of their time.

  • a Facebook advertising account for advertising on Facebook,
  • an ad that you create, and
  • a lead funnel (using a blog).

The idea is for people to reach out to you by going to your website and submitting their information, which can happen 24/7 (while you’re sleeping or at the beach).

They’ll do this in exchange for valuable information you’re promised to give them.

They are then automatically sent all the information they need to get familiar with your business.

By the time you get on the phone, they’re 90% sold!

You only answer a few questions, and they’re ready to get started.

It’s all automatic.

That’s what a funnel does.

This is how you can passively have prospects come into your business, every single day.

In our business, we have between 500-to-600 prospects reaching out to us, requesting information daily.

There’s no way we could personally talk to every single one of them, so we had to create funnels.

If you talk to the leaders in the industry saying that the key to success is prospecting

When I started out in the network marketing industry I was given the same recruiting tips that I suppose the majority of newbies get. prospecting is how you build a business and this is true if you want to build solely offline, but I didnt.

In my opinion there is zero prospecting required anymore, so let us get out of the 'old school ways' and into the modern era if you know how to use the internet.

If you are not tech savvy please do not worry it is very easy to apply this formula, you only need a facebook account and the ability to follow some simple instructions.

Most people have a Facebook account but just do not know how to recruit for network marketing using social media, they are simply transferring the traditional type prospecting to the internet which includes;

  • Make a list of my family, friends and friends of friends,at least 100 people, highlight the most likely people who would be interested then go out and prospect them.
  • Post on my facebook profile about how fantastic my new business is and that it's a no brainer.
  • Promote my company pictures, logos and messages 
  • Spamming Facebook groups with my offer
  • Sending friend requests and sending them messages to jump on this amazing opportunity
  • You get the idea right?...

Sound familiar? Yes I did them all and of course got virtually no results.

Now I am not denying the traditional network marketing techniques have seen many success stories, as the old school leaders will tell you it is a proven strategy and it is possible to build a team this way, in fact the majority still build their business solely offline ....but things change and my immediate thoughts even right at the beginning were this;

"surely there is a better way to leverage the internet and social media to help me get prospects and recruit without bugging my family and friends".

I did as I was told though and made a list. I actually put together a list of approximately 800 people and started contacting them.

I was using social media and in particularly Facebook and Messenger to try and prospect people.

I got a little success and manage to talk a few friends and family members to join me.

The problem is deep down I knew they were not going to go out and follow this recruiting technique and would most likely quit at some point in the future. 

So I started looking at the top income earners in network marketing and I noticed a few of these rock stars were employing some recruiting techniques that I wasn't been taught. so I thought I want to learn this and start teaching my team.

So after lots of homework, coaching, webinars scrolling google and endless youtube videos I started to see a pattern and that was they were attracting not chasing.


So let's get into it, How can we recruit with zero prospecting using the amazing platform that is Facebook.

The reason it is an amazing platform for us to use, is that Facebook knows a lot about us, We give them information constantly through our activities of posting, liking, commenting etc.

Facebook has has almost 2 Billion people and alot of them are interested in what you have to offer. You simply have to know how to locate them!

I do not know which industry you are involved in but just as an example let's take the Health & Wellness niche.

Ask yourself who are the type of people most likely to be interested in your product, service or opportunity?

If you are thinking - people who have already bought similar products in the past then you are on the right track, also what about people who are or have been involved in network marketing?

Great now you have a proven audience type for your health and wellness opportunity. Now all we have to do is know where to find them.

How do we do that? Well how many times have you seen and 'Liked' a page for something you are interested in. I am guessing at least a few times, so has everyone else on the platform. When you do this Facebook registers this information and now you are able to use this for your business.

You do this by using an awesome tool provided by Facebook called Audience Insights, and even this is completely Free! 

So taking the example I just gave you... 'Health and Wellness' all you have to do is type in the 'Interests' section of Audience Insights as shown in the picture provided.

 As you can see by simply entering Health & Wellness as an interest there are 40-45 million people worldwide who are interested in this niche

 Once I entered a location (e.g. United States) this brought the reach down to 6-7 million people. You can be even choose a specific town if you want to target locally. as well as age and gender.

As the photos above show there are 40-45 million people on Facebook who are interesting in the Health and Wellness Niche. 

You can choose a particular target area too, so lets just look as I did in this example at the US and we can see there are approx 6-7 million people to choose from.

However we may want to narrow it down even further so we can get even more specific targeting.

So we can also pick an age, gender, demographic which we feel best suits us.

Then if we click on Page Likes, we will discover other pages that the people who like health and wellness also follow.

As you can see here just as an example the Ashley Black Guru page has a total of almost 1 million likes and 218k specifically who like health and wellness in combination with this page.

There people are all the perfect potential hot prospects for you.

You can do this whatever your niche is, so lets take another example. Let's say you are looking for an audience that are looking for  an additional monthly income and are not skeptical about Multi Level Marketing. Then someone like Robert Kiyosaki's Facebook page may be a good place to go.

Just play around with the Audience Insight App and you will find it easy to located great prospects for whatever you have to offer.

Now you are probably thinking.

How Do I Get These People To Ask Me About My Product or About Joining My Business Opportunity?

Well the strategy that is most effective is something called Attraction Marketing.

I have used this formula after being introduced to it by Ferny Cabellos and I knew it was going to be the key to get prospects to come to me like a magnet.

This strategy is a completely passive way of making sure you have lead coming in regularly every day.

I would highly recommend you get a Fan Page as this strategy will only have limited effect of you facebook profile. 

You want to stop bugging your friends and family, spamming groups and potentially resulting in Facebook closing down your account...they will do this if they think you are spamming or promoting a business.

Creating a Fan Page is so easy and takes just a few minutes, If you are unsure how to do it just go to Youtube for a quick tutorial. This is the first step to creating a brand so my advice would be brand YOU.

  • I would not post about your products or your company. so post about your lifestyle, and how you have benefited from being involved in your niche.
  • If you are in Travel, post about your travels, give advice on places to go, travel tips etc..not your company products
  • If you are in Skin Care, post about the best skin care regimes, what celebrities are doing to get perfect skin..not about your product
  • If you are in Network Marketing...post about time freedom, financial freedom how to create a residual income.... but not about your company. (check out my Fan Page and you will see I do not mention my company at all)

You should be posting value content that teaches people something. Build up your authority in your particular niche so people know you, like you and trust you.

People will start to ask for advice and once you have built up trust you can then introduce them to your product without a sales pitch.
